Real poetry is written in meter. It is composed of carefully measured lines of literature. Unfortunately, many people nowadays hopelessly confuse prose with poetry. They believe in the existence of the “prose poem.” What they don’t realize is that without meter you cannot have a real poem. Do away with meter, and you do away with the objective difference between poetry and prose.
I am a defender of poetry. I write in meter because I take poetry seriously. Here you’ll find some of my personal poems, as well as the work of my favorite poets, such as Percy Shelley and William Blake.
